hi all...

I'm a novice to the hunting act and is struck in making a choice as to which bow to purchase...what do you think of a longbow??? Is it fine if to be purchased by a novice...

I would say the Savannah is too pricy for an entry level archer.  The Martin Stick would be in-line with a beginner.  I would also suggest the Martin Jaguar, X-150 or Rebel Hunter if they would be happy shooting a recurve, and maybe they're more interested in shooting traditional in general.  Someone who is trying to learn about the sport, I would start with price in mind as they may decide its not for them.

Most of the Martin longbows and recurves are great bows.  Get a less expensive bow at around 45# so you can concentrate on learning good shooting mechanics before you consider a heavier weight bow which might be better for actual hunting.  A 45# bow is sufficient for deer, but your ability to use a heavier arrow/broadhead might ultimately motivate you to hunt with a heavier bow, like around 50# and up.
